Nature is part of our essence and it can never be removed from our lives. My work for the past twelve years has explored landscape painting, its origins and historical importance; to record nature's fragile state and to preserve it.
On-location painting to me is a spiritual experience. The communing with nature's sights, sounds and fragrances on site, in a meadow or garden, is a mystical experience. My desire for painting landscapes comes from childhood memories, being born and raised in California and spending time on my grandfather's ranch. My family gave me a strong respect for the environment and its connection to the human spirit. Nature is to be protected. While living in England, I immersed myself in painting the Oxfordshire architecture, the gardens and the countryside. It was a stimulating experience to study landscape painting at village galleries and city museums. When returning to California from England, I had a broader vision in the use of color, space and mood. I want my paintings to be a testament to my regard for the environment. I want to show reverence for nature and the continuing impact it has on me. Web design by Grove Graphix |
